Coed Wedding Shower

Saturday night Glen and I got the privilege of hosting our first ever couples/coed shower for our good friends Jonathan and Amber. We spent almost all day cleaning, doing yard work, and cooking. We had a good turn out! When the last guests left last night (after watching a little olympics) we collasped in bed exhausted. Overall, I feel like hosting our first shower was a success!

As a side note: Abby also had a successful first shower. I had contemplated boarding Abby for the night so that we would not have to deal with her extreme enthusiasm over new people, but Glen convinced me it was going to be okay. So she also attended the shower. There were a few leaps onto people so that she could lick their faces but not too many of those (thankfully). Luckily she found a friend. One couple brought their 5 year old daughter with whom Abby was infatuated with. I think she was pretty infatuated with Abby too. So they got to where each other out and Abby made a new friend!

The Spread which included: mini-cupcakes, pretzel kisses, strawberries, ham & swiss rolls, pimento cheese sandwiches, hot artichoke dip, roasted vegetable dip, beer cheese dip, and salsa

Friday Night Bowling

One thing that Glen and I have loved to do since we started going to LPC is volunteer with the Junior High Youth Group. Those who really know me know I have a passion for junior highers. Well last night we went bowling with them, and I have to say I think that practice on the wii has really done me well. First game-147! Then the second game the girls decided to put up the bumpers and I got a 110? How did that happen. Anyways, here are some pictures.

Look at that style!
And some silly shots (I think she got a strike with this one!)

Got Buttermilk?

A few months ago I started making buttermilk cheddar biscuits from a recipe that I found here off of food network. I changed the recipe a little. I use garlic salt instead of plain salt. I also use buttermilk and egg wash to coat the biscuits. Lastly I cut the recipe in half and make 8 mini biscuits instead of 8 large ones. They taste very much like the ones from Red Lobster. You might be saying to yourself "really ,Miriam, Red Lobster." Yes, I know not the classiest seafood joint and maybe you will never visit such an establishment, but their cheddar biscuits are the BEST! So try this recipe and see what you think!
I also discovered that buttermilk is pretty expensive for the little jug that you get so the past two weeks I have been experimenting with other buttermilk recipes. Last weekend we made some pretty tasty buttermilk french toast. You can find the recipe here. And this weekend we tried buttermilk pancakes. You can find that recipe here. On the pancakes I added a tsp. of sugar and tsp. of vanilla because of the comments left on the recipe and they turned out really good.

Homemade Buffalo Chicken Pizza

About a month or so ago I attempted to make homemade cinnamon rolls- from scratch. Well, they did not turn out at all. They were actually a huge disaster. Since I had some yeast left which I was determined to use, I decided to try homemade pizza. Plus I got some advise from my sister-in-law who makes the best bread, cinnamon rolls, ect. (thanks Hannah!). Here is the Parmesan Pizza Dough:

This is after it actually rose (that was the problem with the failed cinnamon rolls).
Glen got home just in time to help decorate the pizza.

Before cooking...

Finish product! It tasted great!

Valentine's Day

Glen and I dont celebrate Valentine's with a whole big sha-bang but I can always expect that he will do a little something sweet for me. He brought me these flowers this weekend. These are my favorite flowers! For those of you who dont know what they are- they are alstromeria and they come in so many different colors.

On Sunday we went by Krispy Kreme to get our free valentine donuts with these:

We got boring donuts but I have to admit I really would have liked to get some of these just because it was valentines day!

Free Pretzels!

I have recently started couponing. Needless to say I am still not an expert. I still shop impulsively once in awhile but am slowly getting better at only buying stuff on sale- preferably at least 50% off and have a coupon on top of that. But with the couponing I have been finding a lot of other non-grocery deals. So for those who are in Columbia, SC-

Auntie Anne's is having Free Pretzel Day this Saturday at Columbiana Mall! You can get original or sugar & cinnamon (no strings attached). 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Also, those who are in Columbia should sign up for the Moe's email list(Forest Drive Location). They send us a Buy One Get One Free Entree either every month or every other month. And we LOVE moe's!

Snow in SC

Glen does not like the cold but endured it for awhile for me so that we could take pictures and walk in the snow!

Seasonal Moose

Meet our moose- Marty. We found him at Lowe's late last fall. He was the only one left, so we had to get him. Thankfully he was dressed for this latest weather.

Glen and I

I like reading blogs. So I thought maybe I would enjoy writing one too. I haven't yet because I know so many people who write very witty and entertaining things or people who have children and who wouldn't want to look at a blog of very cute children. Well I am not witty and we don't have any children nor plan to have any soon but would like to share what (whatever little it may be) is going on in our lives. So here is an introduction to who WE are!

My name is Miriam. I started dating a boy named Glen in highschool. He went to college and two years later I followed him. Here is a pic of us from a few years back...

Glen graduated from USC and we got married, and here we are now(a little more mature?):

My plan: to document our lives in this blog...or at least part of our lives and not the boring things.
