emma taylor thought cosmo needed some friends to keep him company. the look on cosmo's face says otherwise.

19 months

 photo 1-IMG_6886_zps0c91c4c7.jpg
emma taylor turned 19 months on valentine's day. we celebrated by getting heart shaped chicken biscuits at chickfila and then headed to the zoo. it was a nice little outing since we had been stuck inside at home with a cold and rain for 3 days. at 19 months she is miss independent. she wants to walk (not be carried) everywhere. she likes to feed herself, open doors, open gates, climb on couches, climb on tables, and get into everything. oh to be 19 months!

birthday donuts

i wanted to do something special to celebrate glen's birthday. so saturday morning before we left for augusta we had some semi-homemade birthday donuts. thanks to pinterest for the idea, we fried pillsbury canned biscuits and dipped them in a sugar cinnamon mixture. they were easy, cheap, and definitely yummy. i will definitely be making these for any breakfast get together.

update: big girl bed

so in my last post i said that i wouldn't care if emma taylor played in her room as long as she would eventually go down. well she learned that she could in fact get out of her bed, and i do care. it makes it a whole lot harder to get her to nap. however, with every day she seems to understand more that she has to stay in her bed. that is all...

big girl bed

day 1 nap 1: i almost gave up on transitioning e.t. to her new toddler bed. seriously. after 25 minutes of being in her room i found her on her knees with her top half laying on the bed screaming. not normal screams. desperate, i am going to die screams. i had no trouble with her playing while she was supposed to be sleeping. no. she was scared to sleep in her toddler bed. so i went in laid down on her bed with her till she calmed down. she eventually sat up and started to try to play with me. at that point i got up, tucked her in again, and left. it only took 20 minutes after that for her to pass out. she woke up and went back to sleep 3 times during that nap. needless to say i wasn't excited about bedtime.

day 1 bedtime 1: she took 20 minutes to calm down and then SLEPT ALL NIGHT. she didn't wake once. what a relief.

day 2 nap 2: not happy about nap time but out in 5 minutes.

day 2 bedtime 2: out in 10 minutes.

day 3 and on: she still doesn't like the idea of getting into bed but i think she just doesn't want to miss anything. one night right after she went down i swore i heard her moving around furniture in her room, but really as long as she is in there and goes to bed quietly she can move all the furniture she wants. the really really good thing about the toddler bed- she has been taking 2 1/2 hour naps at least. i had a long stretch of her only taking 1 1/2 hour naps and waking up super grumpy. she has never napped well but the bed seems to be helping!

emma taylor still has a great love for books. you will win the way to her heart if you read her a book and then she will continually bring books to you one after another until you have read every single one. you have been warned. of course, storytime with daddy is the best.

matching diapers

for Christmas emma taylor got my old cabbage patch kids as a present. she got a lot of other doll stuff too and is loving taking care of her babies. she liked to go get her diapers and try to put them on her babies so i pitched the idea of making matching diapers for her and her doll to my friend tarah of Macaroni Baby. they turned out so cute!
