sneak peak

hannah took some family photos for our Christmas card this year. here are a few that i love. we didn't use this series for our card, but i love how they turned out!

{finally ready!}

gone

we have been gone for a few days. glen went to Florida again for work, and emma taylor, abby, and i had an unexpected trip to augusta due to having no water in our house. that's right- we had a water line bust in our front yard, and since glen was going out of town he would have to wait to fix it until thursday. luckily, augusta is not far away, and they gladly welcome abby. while we were there emma taylor had a blast playing with all granny's toys and loved being entertained by her cousins. she especially loved the playmat and turned herself sideways on it every time we layed her down. i only got a few pics of e.t. we were having too much fun to stop and take more!

new baking set

i love mail...until i open the mailbox and all there is is bills. i love packages. they never disappoint. today i recieved a package containing my new bakeware set all for buying P&G products. $20 after coupons i send in the form and 6 weeks later i get all this, and it's pink!

saturday breakfast

i have written before about how saturday mornings are different than any other for us. we would make a special breakfast, drink coffee, and just enjoy sitting on the porch. we have gotten away from that tradition lately for obvious reasons, but this morning was good.

{i love when these...}

{turn into these...}

{and then into this...}

the scogins

we headed to augusta this past tuesday to celebrate glen's mom's birthday and to see his brother and his family. we didn't take our camera because we knew k & h would take some great pictures with their fancy camera. here are some shots from the night.

{meeting cousin oliver for the 1st time}

{all three faces make me *laugh*}

{scogin boys and families}

{the whole crew}

{last but not least, i couldn't resist, a great pic of e.t.}

bumbo

emma taylor hasn't fully conquered the bumbo, but we are working on it. she has such a long torso that it is hard for her to keep it completely stable. slowly but surely she is getting better at sitting up each day.

bald spot

is it weird that i kiss my baby's bald spot? it's just so sad. i feel like it needs a little lovin'.

what is she thinking {part 2}

answers:

"know what i'm sayin?"

"why am i wearing this sticker?"

"i just don't understand."

"what's with all the pictures?"

"did she really stick this owl thing on me again? of course, i grew from last month!"

 ‎"mom, REALLY, it wasn't me!! would this face lie?!?!"

 ‎"clearly, a vote for ron paul makes the most sound fiscal sense"

thanks for all your responses. you all make me laugh!

vista lights {all is good}

sometimes i don't feel like a normal person now that we have emma taylor. we don't have freedom to do all the things that we used to. it's a sacrafice, but the reward {e.t.} is so worth it! still i am learning that it is a balance between caring for emma taylor by keeping her schedule and not being so tied to it that we never leave the house. last night i decided to head out to vista lights {a festival in downtown columbia}. sadly, glen already had a commitment he couldn't break. luckily, andrew and elizabeth came with me! emma taylor fell asleep while we were out, was awake on the way home, and didn't go to bed until 10 p.m. today she is fine. she slept through the night and all is good. not that we will go out every night and miss her bedtime, but once in awhile it is freeing!

what is she thinking

sometimes emma taylor makes the funniest expressions. i really want to know what is going on in her little head. what do you think the caption of this photo should be?

taking after daddy

{how tall am i?}

4 months

emma taylor is 4 months! she is very vocal and loves to interact with anyone and everyone. she has a new trick of blowing bubbles which makes a very messy baby. she had her first cold this month but was a trooper through it all. she has a great temperment most of the time but can go from 0 to 60 in a second when she is hungary. she is holding and grabbing onto everything and everything she gets a hold on goes straight into her mouth. she loves when you sing to her especially when  you make up silly songs about her and cosmo. she is wearing 6 and 9 month clothing, and she slept 12 hours for the first time (at the end of this month) although its not consistently 12 hours. she rolled over for the first time in the doctor's office. i guess she just wanted to show off for the doctor! anyways, here are her stats from her 4 month check up...

Height: 25 1/4 inches (83%)
Weight: 15 lbs. 11 oz (87%)
Head Circumfrence: 17 in. (93%)

she was certainly a bit more wiggly in her 4 month pictures, and i can imagine it will get harder and harder to get these pictures the older she gets!

mini skirt

i love thrifting. especially when i can find baby clothes in good condition (of course after much searching through an endless pile). it's totally worth it when they cost between .25 and .50 cents each. i bought some 9 month shorts, but its getting to be winter and she is already wearing 9 month clothes. so i decided to do a little sewing and turned the shorts into a little mini skirt. of course she doesn't need a mini skirt, but its a nice accessory for her plain little onsie. i am sure it'll look cute with her leg warmers too!

curtains & an owl

for the past couple of months there has been a beach towel hanging in front of e.t.'s window. not really the look i am going for. we finally got some curtains. after much searching for the perfect color, we decided to go with white. however, we wanted it to have a little flare. we chose some fabric and sewed a panel to give it some personality. i love how it turned out. we also wanted to add some accents with the same fabric around the room. my first idea was to sew a pillow for the rocker, but ultimately decided to sew an owl because owls are more fun than pillows. lastly i want to frame some of the material to make a place wear we can hang pictures and birth announcements. i have yet to find the perfect frame, but that project should be coming soon!

ready

i went walking the other day with emma taylor at 4:30. the sun was already going down and getting cold. i am not ready for winter, but now that she has this adorable little hat emma taylor is. well kind of. she still needs some mittens and possibly some little fleece boots, but for now this hat will do. luckily it has long ears to hold onto and eat.

boy onesies

last week someone thought emma taylor was about 9 months old. nope, she's not even 4 months yet. i can't blame them. she is wearing 6 and 9 months clothes. she is also wearing boy onesies. i love them and am totally fine if they are "boy". really they are just gender neutral, but i did find them in the boy section. don't get me wrong. i like pink, but she looks really good in other colors especially green and blue because it matches her eyes. plus, if we have a boy next he can wear these. i love that a girl can wear "boy" stuff, but i would never dress a boy in any of emma taylor's girl stuff.

on another note, now that it is chilly outside emma taylor has permanent rosey cheeks, and i love them!

bath time as of late

bath time has changed a lot in the past few months. we obviously no longer give emma taylor a bath in the sink, and she definitely enjoys it now. it is no longer just a time of cleaning. it is a time for playing too! she likes to hold on to her duck and of course, put it in her mouth like everything else she can get her hands on. she also scoots down in her seat, as far down as she can get so that she can stick her little feet in the water. she doesn't splash with her hands, rather with her feet. i can't wait till she can sit up and play in the bath!

happy girl

jealous

abby was a bit jealous that i gave cosmo a whole post to himself. so to make up for it, here is a picture of abby. i feel like she is still a little bitter.
