Not much has been happening on the blogfront lately. This is not due to any baby activity. In fact, yesterday the doctor said that Emma Taylor seemed very content and happy in there. Its been pretty quiet because we have been car searching and researching for the past week. I wrote this about the cutlass on Monday thinking that it might be more than we want to, but that in the end it wouldn't be a big deal to fix it. Little did I know we would have to replace the engine on a car that is not worth anything. So as of now we are car searching and hopefully purchasing soon.
Before we decided we wanted a baby, I remember telling Glen that before we had that baby I would like to replace the cutlass. I forgot about that until now. Although it seems like bad timing, God's timing is good, and He has said yes to my forgotten request!

oh, the cutlass
I currently drive our oldsmobile cutlass ciera s (when its not in the shop). I feel awesome in it. Yes, maybe you would think it fits a 90 year old, but its been my car since we got married. Okay so I don't feel awesome in it. We just got it free from my parents and it ran. That's all. We have had some problems with it in the past but the last 2 years its been doing good. Friday it shut off on my in Five Points in the middle of an intersection while I was turning left. Great. I was able to turn it off and then start it back up to get it out of the intersection. This happened about 3 more times until I was able to get it pulled off on the side of the road. Usually I don't really mind these situations. I have dealt with them in the past. I don't love breaking down, but I know pretty well how to handle it. This time was a bit different. I was almost 38 weeks pregnant in the sc summer heat. I really thought for a second that I could go into labor while waiting for my car to get towed. Luckily, I didn't, and luckily we have AAA so towing was free. The cutlass is now in the shop and we are waiting to hear the diagnoses. The cutlass couldn't have better timing...

a book for glen
Glen's father's day gift came in the mail yesterday. I got him a book. That's right, although Glen doesn't read, I got him a book. He told me about a book his co-worker got, and it sounded perfect for him.
The Baby Owner's Manual
This book is written by a Doctor and his son, gets right to the point, and seems to be geared towards guys(especially the engineering type). I have flipped through it, and it is quite entertaining. The language is humorous. I just hope it contains some helpful tips too!

In honor of Father's Day
I baked Glen a red velvet cake (per his request). However, I left out the nuts (sorry sweetheart). If I wasn't pregnant I would have gone for it and added the nuts, but at this point I am being super safe and staying away. Also, I only baked half a cake because technically Glen is not yet a father. Just kidding! I only baked half because we don't need to eat a whole cake by ourselves!
Multitude Monday, Week 59
To be honest, it's been difficult for me to find things this past week that I feel thankful for. At this point in the pregnancy I am pretty uncomfortable all the time and don't do much of anything. So the list might be short, but I am trying to challenge myself to find things because I KNOW that God has blessed us beyond what we could ever imagine.
683. I am still sleeping pretty well
684. dinner with friends
685. leftovers that stretch farther than I thought they would
686. 9 days of work left
687. a pool to swim in

bench update
The benches that we ordered came in! Glen tried to pick them up last week, but due to limited space in our tiny civic he couldn't fit them in. He borrowed his uncle's truck this morning to pick them up. When we got them in the house, we put them at the table to try them out, and they cracked...Glen and I are not huge people. They really shouldn't have cracked especially when we planned for more like 4 people to be able to sit on each bench at one time. So back they go, and we are back at the drawing board. I think Glen might try to build some himself (with the help of his uncle who loves doing woodworking).
