afternoon nap

It's getting hot outside so in the afternoon Abby has been coming inside to nap. However, I don't see how she thinks the positions she has chosen are comfortable.

Bark to the Park

This past Saturday we went to Bark to the Park downtown. Yes we are those people and we had a blast. I think Abby had more fun though. She was wiped out by the time we came back and we only stayed 2 hours or less.

She got to drink from our water bottles...

She waited in line to get in the pool...

and when she got into the pool she had her own personal servant pour water over her.



She also watched a frisbee dog show and saw some awesome tricks that she wants to aspire to do one day.

And she of course had some pretty cool people to hang out with...

A letter from Cosmo

dear humans that live in MY house,

Thank you for letting me out every morning when I stand beside the door in the kitchen and meow as loud as I can. I wouldn't have to meow that loud if you would attend to me quicker though. Also, you are kind of crowding my sleep space at night so if you could move your pillows apart a couple more inches I would appreciate it. Thank you for the taste of chinese food the other night. Please feed me that every day. Also, I am so much happier now that I don't have that collar on and you can scratch me so much better. If I were you I wouldn't go looking for it. You will never find it. Plus now that I don't wear that dorky thing with the tag that has my name on it I am much cooler according to the other neighborhood cats.

Stick a fork in her

...she's done. I never thought this would happen, but Abby needs to take a break from the dog park. We went 3 days in a row this week, and she only had enough energy for 15 minutes of playing today. I think we killed our dog...with fun.

Balloons

To celebrate Glen's birthday we had a quiet dinner at home. We had caesar salad, loaded mashed potato cassarole (a new favorite!), chicken wings, and for dessert these red velvet cupcakes.

I had blown up some balloons to make our house more festive. So after dinner, we let Abby have some fun.

Update: Abby & the dog park

Last week I posted about Abby's first trip to our new dog park! It was pretty un-eventful since there were only a dog or two there. This weekend we went both Saturday and Sunday, and there were a lot more dogs.
Abby's dog park weekend consisted of...

1. being out-run by a 4 year old puggle (pug + beagle)

2. getting mad that she was out-run by a 4 year old puggle

3. picking on/ being a bully to the most docile golden doodle (golden retriever + poodle) I have ever met

4. running like crazy

5. fetching a lot of balls

6. covering herself head to toe in mud

7. mistaking a small dog for a squeaky toy

Abby + dog park

We Abby loves going to the dog park. We used to go to the dog park in Sesquicentennial State Park, but its at least a thirty minute drive. We now have a dog park that is only 1 and 1/2 miles from our house! I can walk there! Our application was processed and we are now official members of the NOMA Dog Park. Abby and I went to check it out yesterday. There were a few dogs for a while, but mainly Abby enjoyed playing frisbee and jumping in large mud puddles when I told her not too. I can't wait to go back this Saturday when there are hopefully a ton of dogs for her to play with!

Top 10 pet peeves concerning Cosmo

1. he's messy when he eats

2. he sleeps on our pillows or in between our pillows or on our feet

3. he jumps on the counters when we aren't watching

4. he drinks out of the toilet

5. he wants to get in our laps every time we sit down to eat

6. he knocks over our water glasses

7. he drinks out of our water glasses

8. he scratches matresses when they don't have sheets on them

9. if he is outside he meows at us when we drive up to the house as if he has to show us the way to the front porch

10. every time I make the beds he insists on getting on it mid make and laying down

However, I really like him, and there is no better cat.

Abby & the snow

Abby LOVES playing in the snow! She would stay out all day if we would let her, but its too cold. I think her favorite thing is playing fetch in the snow. We would throw the ball and she would go diving into the snow to retrieve it.

I shot a little video of her in the snow. In the first half of the video she's the little black thing running at the back of the yard. I couldn't figure out how to rotate the video so its sideways. Sorry. If anyone knows how to fix that let me know!

Friends

Abby's friend Brio came and stayed with us this past Thursday through Monday. He was a little unsure of Abby at first, but I think by the end he really liked Abby, partly because she stopped jumping on him every time he came near her. Cosmo on the other hand did not like Brio and never softened up!

Cosmo has grinch-like tendencies but lately he has seemed a bit more on the jolly side.

The cold

It got so cold this weekend. It was down in the 30s and I think below freezing at least one night. We are trying to hold off turning our heat on and that means it is absolutely freezing in our house. I think we made it all the way to December last year, but at this rate I don't think we'll last. We are taking measures to keep warm- layering extra blankets on the bed and wearing coats inside. Even Abby is having to take extra measures to keep warm...

This past weekend Glen repainted the exterior door frames. He also painted Abby. Poor Abby.

Just like a kid

We recently purchased a wireless printer so that when we wanted to print something we would have to go get the printer from the office and plug all the cords in. It was such a hassel. Now the printer sits in the office closet and prints wirelessly! Cosmo helped me unpack. As you can see he loved the box. He's kind of like a kid. We buy him fancy new toys, and all he wants is the box.

Sprinkler

It has been a hot summer. Numerous days of 100+ degree weather and heat advisories can really wear on you. Abby loves playing with the water hose. So we decided to see how she like the sprinkler. She loved it.
