dirty faro
this was a take on dirty rice. it was super filling and didn't even need an entree but we ate it with mustard baked chicken. i would definitely make this again for a filling easy to make big batch kind of meal. it did use chicken livers though and that may have turned me off a bit because i am not a fan of handling raw meat and they were extra slimy...and not something i usually have on hand.

snowflakes in march
that time is was in the seventies (maybe even in the eighties) the week before and you put away your wintery clothes, and it decides to snow over the weekend in march along with the pollen.
the boys color
the boys love to color and do stickers and sit on the table and eventually eat the crayons and then coloring time promptly ends.
fancy nancy of course
emma taylor dressed as fancy nancy for read across america (dr. suess) day. she plays the part so well :)
chicken and rice
not the most appealing dish to photograph like the stewed tomatos and shirred eggs, but yall i have already made this a second time before i even got around to putting it on the blog. this was so simple plus cheap plus comfort food. all those things made it an immediate winner in my book. to top it all off, emma taylor who doesn't like foods that are mixed (like casseroles or pastas) didn't complain AT ALL. she even said she liked it hence why i have made it a second time. all it is is a whole chicken, water, salt, pepper, rice, and lemon juice. the second time around i sauteed the trinity (carrots, celery, and onion) to give it a little more depth and it was fantastic.
