the third frame

earlier this week i posted about upcycling old picture frames. i used the third frame to showcase emma taylor's footprints from the hospital when she was born. it is a great addition to her little room.

happy mail

i sent my first ever batch of happy mail to my niece and nephews (all those over age2). did you know you can send ANYTHING that is 13 oz or less through the regular mail system? i am glad to report that my happy mail made it to its destinations successfully! it makes me want to send happy mail all the time...except for the cost of postage. so i guess i will just keep it to special occasions.

{how fun is it to send or rather receive an easter egg in the mail?!}

mode of transportation

there is absolutely no reason for cosmo not to be walking on the perfectly good ground on either side of this fence, yet this is how he chooses to get from one place to another...

upcycle old picture frames

we have tons of old unused picture frames lying around. so i thought i would be crafty this week and try to use them. we had 3 of the black frames below but really black doesn't go with anything in our house. we are more brown people. everything i used in the crafts below we already had lying around. yay for free crafts!

i spray painted the black frame white, framed a piece of cloth, and hot glued this wooden "S" that has been sitting on a shelf as decor. our hallway is pretty bland so this was a fun thing to hang up. (p.s. sorry for the bad lighting in the photos...we have a basic point and shoot and that plus indoor lighting always equals less than great pictures).

for the second frame i spray painted the black frame again and then used chalkboard paint for the glass. it turned out to be a fun little diy chalkboard for our kitchen which will be fun to change each holiday or event we are having!

the third frame is still to come. i have something in the works to hang in emma taylor's room!

4/2/12

repurposed baby food jars

i have been feeling pretty crafty here as of late which means i have about a half dozen crafts sitting around my house all half finished. i hope to have most of them finished by this weekend since we have family coming, and the house should be somewhat picked up.

have i ever told you that i love candles. i am a bubble bath and candles to relax kind of person. i hate buying candles because they seem so expensive. with a coupon i got 4 lbs of wax (which is a lot of wax) for about $10. i hope to go thrifting to find some other glassware to make candles but i started with what i had...baby food jars. i spray painted the tops with some leftover chalkboard paint we had. you could write a little message if you were giving these away or note the scent. they are certainly not made from the best quality wax, but i think they turned out pretty good.

puffs

e.t. loves puffs and cheerios. she literally starts shaking when she sees me get them out. she likes to play "let's see how many i can fit in my mouth", and she wins every time.
